Cuatro mensajes a La Iglesia Madre

Los cuatro mensajes de Mary Baker Eddy a La Iglesia Madre, La Primera Iglesia de Cristo, Científico, en Boston, Massachusetts, fueron sermones pronunciados en diferentes momentos. Cada uno de ellos se publicó más tarde, y están disponibles en español como un libro recopilatorio.

La Ciencia Cristiana en contraste con el panteísmo

En 1898, Mary Baker Eddy, fundadora de la Iglesia de Cristo, Científico, pronunció un sermón sobre el tema “No panteísmo, sino Ciencia Cristiana”, que ahora se publica en este libro. En él explica las grandes diferencias entre el cristianismo científico y el panteísmo. Ella reitera la totalidad y la unicidad de Dios, condena el mal y exhorta a sus alumnos a “[amar] a todas las iglesias cristianas por causa del evangelio...” (pág. 13).

Mensaje a La Iglesia Madre para el año 1900

En 1900, Mary Baker Eddy ofreció este mensaje atemporal a los miembros de su creciente Iglesia de Cristo, Científico. En él recomienda la forma correcta de pensar, de actuar y de trabajar, junto con el altruismo, la caridad, la receptividad y la obediencia a Dios.

En 1901, Mary Baker Eddy dio su mensaje anual de comunión a los miembros de su iglesia. Aborda una variedad de temas, entre ellos, la supremacía y la bondad de Dios. También explica más completamente al Cristo como “la identidad espiritual de Jesús”. Habla del pastor de la Iglesia de Cristo, Científico (la Biblia y su libro Ciencia y Salud).

Cerca del final del mensaje, anima a sus seguidores: “...estudiad la Biblia y el libro de texto de nuestra denominación; obedeced estrictamente las leyes que hay, y seguid a vuestra Guía solo en tanto que ella siga a Cristo” (pág. 34). Estas palabras continúan resonando y guiando a los Científicos Cristianos de hoy.

En 1902, Mary Baker Eddy dio su mensaje anual de comunión a los miembros de su iglesia. Bajo el título “El antiguo y el nuevo mandamiento”, aborda los temas: “Dios como Amor”, “Amaos unos a otros” y “La semejanza a Dios”.

Mary Baker Eddy’s Four Messages to The Mother Church, The First Church of Christ, Scientist in Boston, Massachusetts, were delivered as sermons on separate occasions. Each was later published. Individually and collectively, they speak to the healing efficacy of scientific Christianity and the progress that naturally results from obedience to one universal God, adherence to the First Commandment, and selfless love for mankind as taught by Christ Jesus.

Her 1898 message to The Mother Church, Christian Science versus Pantheism, explains how the First Commandment provides the foundation of Christian Science and its teaching that one universal God cares for man.

Her Message to The Mother Church for 1900 addresses the empowering and healing effects of genuine Christianity, which come about through obedience to God and love for mankind as taught by the Master, Christ Jesus.

Her Message to The Mother Church for 1901 offers insight into the nature of God’s infinitude; Christ; the pastor of the Church of Christ, Scientist; medicine; and other topics relevant to the practice of Christian Science today.

Her Message to The Mother Church for 1902 takes an in-depth look at the First Commandment, God’s nature as infinite Love, and Jesus’ commandment to love one another — foundational teachings that remain imperative today.
